I'm looking for a basic 2.1 speakers. My big requirement is that the price is $100 or lower (under $75 would be even better). Also, I want a wireless remote control, not one of those volume knobs that connects to the sub. Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything with a wireless remote.
edit: I found Midiland MX-2 for only $55 with a wireless remote here , but I have never heard of Midiland... anyone else? Other suggestions would be great.

Midiland is a giant chinese OEM manufacturer.
They actually make decent high end stuff for well known companies.
Thay also make loads of cheap crap.
I would imagine that you get what you pay for.
I considered them to build a device I developed but decided against them as they work for price and not quality unless you are big enough to have some control over them and order several container loads at a time.
I listened to several of their cheap products and they all sounded.....cheap.

The JBL Creatures are great. They don't have a wireless remote, but the right satellite has tactile volume controls.

The Cambridge SoundWorks " SoundWorks" are $55, and sound like they cost way more. Everything I've ever bought from CSW has been an excellent value.
They are however, as ugly as sin, and don't have a wireless remote.
If you throw in a Keyspan Digital Media Remote, which is $50 ($40 street), you're still in your sweet spot. Plus you get to do nifty crap like pause/rwd/ff in iTunes, iPhoto, and DVD player.
This is also as ugly as sin. I also have personal experience that the driver has had problems with the volume control under Panther. This would obviously suck, since that's why you're getting it. This happened right at Panther's intro though, so it's quite possible they've fixed it by now. I don't have mine setup right now, so I don't know for sure.
HTH.

If you're willing to go without a wireless remote, I's suggest the Logitech Z-560. I know that they're a 4.1 set. It doesn't matter, you can still use them as a 2.1. The thing is, Logitech does sell a 2.1 equivalent to the Z-560, the Z-2200, but it's actually MORE expensive! The list price of the Z-560 is $150 I think, but I got mine refurbished for $79 with free shipping. For the money they are about as good as it gets.

it seems weird that as computers are becoming entertainment centers that more speakers are not not offered with remote controls... or am I the weird one? Thanks for the suggestions so far... keep 'em coming
I was thinking smaller, more minimalist, type speakers, so the creatures look alright (though I'm not sold on the "funk"), also, I saw the creative i-trigue i3350 speakers at amazon link
But I would really like a remote - one that doesn't have to be plugged into a usb port.
