I keep having to re-install the drivers... it's like poof they stop working all of a sudden.

I wonder if HP's drivers are in need of work?

It's important that you download the newest drivers available on HP's website. Thats what I did, and my printer has performed like a gem since the day I got it.

I didn't even install the included drivers that came with my printer. I threw them away. I'm not sure what can happen if you install the "old" drivers and than try to install the "new" ones on top of it. I would avoid this, if possible as you could run into problems? (If old drivers were already installed: delete any trace of the old drivers and install up to date versions and you should be okay.)

I have an HP Photosmart 7660.

I should also add, It's important that you follow the setup procedure exactly the way HP explains it in the pull-out instructions. In other words, dont follow the steps out of order.

Good Luck

I've done that a 1/2 dozen times, along with un-installs .. no luck. It seems to be working fine for a while then all of sudden poof .. no printer found.

I even went thru the library and erase all to do with HP before I installed them .. no I think HP needs to refine their drivers.

The only thing I can suggest is to disable fast user switching and than try a clean install and see if that helps. Make sure you are logged into the account that the printer was installed in. If that doesn't make any difference, contact HP's tech support and see if they can resolve the matter.

not using more than one user.. so that too isn't gonna solve it. And believe it or not, I've called HP 2 times. They are starting to think my printer has a sleep issue... we'll see.

thanks for the advice anyway.
