I'm interested in buying an external HD. capacity >60GB but reasonable in price. I found these new drives from westerndigital:

http://store.westerndigital.com/product.asp?sku=2591445

they are interesting because they are small and get power from the bus. however, after looking around i found this iomega drive:

it's a ton cheaper, larger capacity, and faster. are there any other suggestions?

If you're looking to get the most storage capacity for you buck, I would recommend buying any internal IDE drive and putting it in an external enclosure with Firewire/USB 2.0. I bought a Maxtor 200 GB 7200 rpm drive and an external enclosure for a bit more than half the price of an equivalent Maxtor or WD external drive that you mentioned. And it took me a grand total of 2 minutes to put together, including opening the boxes.

I have two recommendations. First, do a search for this topic because I've seen it a bit lately. Second, buy a standard internal ATA drive (seagate has a good warranty) and put it in a case (look at newegg.com).
