So has the idea been discussed here at all? I could see speed being a drawback although I dont know enough about computers to compare Firewire 400, 800, and potential Airport speeds. All I know is that my iPod works way better as an alarm clock when it's not connected to my computer because I always forget to eject it and the alarm wouldnt go off if I did forget. Anyway I'm just thinking it would work because if Apple can make Airport Express as small as it is, why not cut out the USB port, lose the interal power source, and throw an iPod dock on instead. That way I dont have to go behind my desk and unplug the firewire from the AC adapter if I want to upload songs. All they'd need is a "Connect" button on the dock or as part of an iTunes upgrade. Better yet, have it connect to Airport Express as well so you can stream music to your Airport Express from your iPod with no wires! It might have to wait until wireless connections get faster but dammit I think it's a good idea!
