Here are the events in the order of their occurance:

1. Used Firewire 400 audio interface and ipod for 1 year.
2. Bought LaCie d2 Extreme FW800 drive and installed.
3. Strange distortion played through audio interface whilst streaming audio from drive through FW800. Distortion not present when using USB2.0, or when using FW800 and built-in audio.
4. Firewire 400 and 800 completely stop working, save for power distribution.

Now I have a useless audio interface and iPod and a FW800 drive that can only be used with USB. Apple offers me no option of repair, diagnosis, or even phone support without charge.

I did not purchase apple care.

If anyone has any knowledge of anything like this happening, please respond.

Thank you.
