I am looking at several 17" and 19" LCD monitor for my Mac, and it seems like they all offer 1280*1024 resolution. Does that mean both display the same amount of information on screen, with the 19" one dispaly it a bit larger than 17"?
If that's the case, is that a benefit for me to spend a bit more $$$ to get a 19" LCD monitor, instead of a 17"?

Yes, the 17" has more dots per inch (dip), but they both show the same amount of info. My standard: - 15"-->1024x768
- 17"-->1280x1024
- 19"-->1600x1200
- 21"-->1920x1440

That's your choice. Do you like larger pixels?

Which 19" LCD offers 1600*1200 resolution? I haven't seen one yet.

Dell has a nice 20" LCD for a very reasonable price that you might want to check out. It features a 1600x1200 display. I wasn't aware that there were any 19" displays w/ 1600x1200 resolution; however, I haven't been in the market for an LCD recently.

There are no 19" LCDs that offer 1600x1200. Honestly, I have no idea what swichd is talking about. Other than that he's right, both offer 1280x1024. I personally prefer 17" LCDs since they're a tad smaller and my eyes are still pretty good.

What model? Bear in mind that "very reasonable price" in US does not neccessary translated the same in Australia. There's more than a few Asian brand monitor that offer attractive prices. Furthermore, my work offer discounted HP LCD monitor (30% off the HP RRP), and after the discount HP monitor is about the same price as some of the Japanese or Korean brand LCD monitor I can get.
