I recently upgraded the internal drive on my G4 to the Pioneer 108, and got it recognized as a superdrive using PatchBurn. It's working like a champ reading and burning DVD-R & CDs. However, one of the reasons I did the upgrade was to get the ability to read DVD-RAMs, since I have a number of discs from a stand-alone DVD recorder in that format.

The problem is that isn't seeing the RAM discs at all. Nothing mounts on the desktop, and the drive acts like its empty. No error message, no nothing.

I somehow doubt that it's the drive, since everything else about it is working. And the 108 is definitely supposed to support RAM discs. My guess is that the OS (OS 10.3.6) doesn't want to play nice with this format, and that there is some sort of patch or additional driver needed.

Anybody able to offer any guideance on this?

On my DVR-107, I'm able to mount & read DVD-RAM data disks burned on an Apple DVD-RAM drive without problem. I didn't have to use PatchBurn, however, which might be part of the problem. The DVR-107 is natively supported.

Can you verify the DVD-RAM disks are still readable on the original DVD-RAM drive?
