I saw on the Apple information page that should one use this updater you will loose compatibility with non-Apple devices. Does that mean I'll lose PDA support, too

Nearly forgot to mention that since running the 10.3.6 combined update I have not been able to connect to my Clie (via Bluetooth, of course) because the port is busy. I've searched the forums for help on this, but haven't been able to get it to work yet. Any clues?

No, AFAIK it means that the adapter will cease to work when plugged into Windows computers.

Loss of non-Apple device compatibility would be total idiocy, since the primary application for Bluetooth is address book and calendar synchronization with mobile phones and organizers, neither of which Apple makes.

Duh.

I'm getting the "port is busy" problem, too. Any ideas how to fix it?

I got that message a couple of times when first synchronising my K700i with my PB12 RevA. It would appear if I ran iSync and then tried to do do a file transfer via Bluetooth File Exchange Utility or vice versa. That's running 10.3.6

It would always fix itself if i switched the phone on and off. It looks like the connection hangs rather than closing properly each time.

The good news about the the Bluetooth firmware update 1.2 is that my Motorola HS610 headset now works as audio output from the PB. I can listen to iTunes in my left ear without wires at last. The bad news is the sound quality is the same as two cats fighting inside a barrel.

No you got it wrong. If you have the D-link external USB adapter then if you run the updater you can no longer plug that adapter into PCs and have it work. PC mice and phone etc will still work fine running on your mac.

Run the software updater, if it shows you need it, run it.
