I have an older Lacie firewire case that had a 20gb hard disk.
I have been trying to get a 60gb drive into it but have not been able to get it to work.
The drive will not spin up even though power is running through the case, which is evident since the fan spins and lights turn on. If I disconnect the IDE cable from the hard drive but leave the 4 pin power cable in the drive will spin up.
I thought it may have been a jumper problem but after rotating the jumper from maser, slave, and cable select and the drive not spinning up with the IDE cable put in I am out of ideas.

Does anyone have a clue what the problem may be? I have tried two drives both smaller than 100gb and both spin up only when not connected to the firewire board through IDE.

im having the same problem with the studio lacie drive enclosure and a dvd burner... any ideas anyone?
