I've got a iPod 20GB - 4G

I've got a couple of regular comedy mp3's I'd like to go under the new audiobooks menu so they arent added to the main music playlist. I set the "genre" to audiobook, but that doest seem to be enough as they still just fall under the main music playlist.

Anyone know how to get a file to be recognized as an "audiobook" on the ipod?

They will always be present in the main library list. What you have to do is create a playlist for them.
Either just create a new list and drag them into it ot create a smart playlist to automaticaly filter them into it.
The first thing you did will help the smart playlist function but the easy way for just a few books is to just drag them.

Hope this made sense to you.

The way to trick itunes into thinking it is an audiobook is to convert or rip it to an AAC file and make it bookmarkable. The conversion or ripping you can do right in iTunes. The bookmarkable part you need an applescript for: http://www.malcolmadams.com/itunes/s...kebookmarkable

Only problem or side effect is, the files will now act like audiobooks and resume where you stopped listening to them if you pause and play it again some other time. You may or may not want that, but it will at least put the files into the Audiobook menu.
