When my mother asked me what one expensive thing I would like for Xmas (and it will be the only thing I assure you) I though an iPod would be sweet not only for listening to all my music wherever I am, but also for file transferring.

As an example for one class (Electronic Imaging 5) I have burned about 35 or so CDs worth of data (mostly DVD capture video) to transfer files from the G5s here at school to my home G4. Now if I had an iPod those CDs would still be sitting on my spool waiting for a better use.

Now comes my actual question. Would I be able to have a seperate partition of the 20GB hard drive for files and another seperate one for my music? Or is it simply either one or the other in this case. I've never really researched iPods, or what they are capable of, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just enable disk mode under preferences. Though if you had searched a little, you would have found the answer quickly enough.

You could have separate partitions, but that would be of no use.
You can have one partition with the music and files on it.

Go for it !
