I've posted this elsewhere, but I thought I would put it up here, as well.
I've been using the same 15-inch Apple Studio Display (ADC) since I got my G4 several years ago. I'd like some more screen real estate, but I don't need too much. I've been happy with the Studio Display, and I've considered the 17-inch version. There still seem to be a few of them available out there, and it fits my price range (about $700). I know I'll need an ADC/DVI adaptor to use any non-apple monitor, but does anyone know of any other alternatives that might work with with the GeForce2 MX in my G4?
Thanks.

I just picked up a Princeton 19" LCD monitor from Macmall.com for my G5. It has both analog and digital display capability and comes with both cables. The price is $449 but a rebate of $100 brings it down to $349. I have just connected it to my G5 and must say it a quantum leap from the NEC 19" monitor I was using. A great bargain, I think. Hopefully it won't flake out on me. Go to Macmall.com and see if they still have them. Hope this helps.

I think the 2MX has ADC and VGA, so if you want to get a third-party DVI monitor you'll have to get the adapter. But it's not expensive.
I would actually recommend a Dell LCD. You said you could spend about $700? Well, that might get you an Apple 17" LCD, but it'll get you a 20" Dell LCD. Dell's low-end LCD monitors are pretty bad, but their UltraSharp line (1703FP, 2001FP, 2005FPW) are very good quality. The 1703FP is a 17" LCD that costs around $400, the 2001FP is a 20" LCD that is about $600, and the 2005FPW is a 20" widescreen LCD (same size and resolution as the Apple 20" Cinema) that also costs about $600. Before you buy one, just look on Froogle for the model number to check their prices. You can get some good deals. Way better deals than buying an Apple monitor at least.
Another company that makes excellent LCDs is Samsung. Just make sure you get a model that has DVI input instead of just VGA.

I'd second the 2005FPW. Just keep an eye on http://www.gotapex.com/ for the Dell coupon of the day.
There's one today to get it for $689; a few days ago they had it for around $550, which is outrageous.

I've got a Dell coupon for 20% off of any Dell LCD, good until January. Combined with the ordinary $30 off coupons you can get anywhere, that gives you the 2005FP for $609 shipped. PM me if you want it.

Check this article . I wound up getting the Samsung 17", which is just terrific and very slim and sleek. But several 19"ers are listed here, too.
