Hi, I'm a long time Windoze user and want to switch to Mac, likely an Emac or ibook. I have a parallel port HP Laserjet 6p (without the networking part, I believe).
I would like to be able to use it with the new Macs, through the USB port (I believe). Can I just buy a parrallel to USB cable and will the MAC OS 10.3x recognize it???
I tried HP and couldn't find a MAC driver...

I'm not sure how it would work with a parallel to usb adaptor (it should work fine), but OS X has built-in support for the HP 6P so no drivers from HP are necessary.

You might also look into getting a network card for the printer. I have one in my Laserjet 5, and just plug it into a hub. If you don't have a network, you could just plug it into the network port of the mac.
I picked mine up on ebay for about $30, which might be cheaper than a parallel to usb converter. If a card is available as an option on that printer, just look up the part number on ebay.

I have a client who's switching to OS X from 9.
Her Laserjet 6MP was instantly and automatically recognized by OS X, but I'm having trouble getting it to print from within Classic (using her regular OS 9 System Folder with all the print extensions, etc. installed).
Anybody suggest a trick?

Thank you sir, that looks to fit the bill.
Will try.
