GPRS Connection Broken

Tom Mulhall
I discovered the solution of the connection problem w/ Cingular connections with Ericson T637: Assure that Cingular has turned on your Data Communications service, I suggest the unlimited use for $19.95 per month of you anticipate any significant usage.

Then, call customer service at Cingular and ask to speak to Technical Support-- I finally discovered that the Ericsson T637 cellphones mostly get shipped with a defective GPRS script in them.

The Tech Support person will be able to send you a new script via the phone to fix this problem (hint-- attempt to get on-line with just the phone {no computer}; assure it is connecting via GPRS and not the dial-up system- watch the connection process; you should NOT see a dial-up number). After updating your phone with the correct GPRS settings (from Cingular), recheck with Internet GPRS connection from just the phone BEFORE you release the Tech Support person. Then, here are the settings for your PowerBook:

Setup a new Location in System Preferences; Show Bluetooth.
PPP should be set as follows:
Account Name: WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM (All Caps)
Password: CINGULAR1
Telephone #: WAP.CINGULAR (all Caps)

TCP/IP should have the following DNS entries:
66.209.10.201
66.209.10.202

Download and install Ross Barkman's scripts for the Ericsson phone.

Set your Bluetooth Modem to the proper script for the CID # that your phone has assigned to the GPRS script (Connect/Data Comm./Data Accounts/Express-- this will show the CID #: usually #1. The Express script is the one that the Cingular tech should have updated/corrected).

You should then actually be able to hit the Connect button in Internet Connect (after selecting the setup named configuration setup as above)! It works so well that I went and bought a new phone like my client has!

After all this i got a username or password error once i started connecting anyone knows what i am doing wrong? I followed the steps the letter the only part i have yet to complete is calling cingular for tech support i have been trying all morning and still no luck. if i am able to get online as it is with my phone there shouldn't be any issues should there?
