Hi guys,

I have a iBook G4 with a 30GB drive and am thinking on getting a 20GB iPod for Christmas. A good chunk of those 20GB will go towards backup. I do not usually keep music on my iBook as it is quite often running low on space.

What I want to know is wheter it is possible to use the iPod to:

a. get audio files (mp3, mp4, whatever) over to the iPod without synchronizing with iTunes and have them play

b. hook up the iPod to the iBook and play my music from there

I.e. I want to have the iPod store all my music without having it duplicated on the iBook.

Possible?

Yes, its possible however you'll have to get third-party software which you may have to pay for if you want to transfer the songs back to the ibook. I'd recommend that you just hook up the iPod to seperate speakers, it'll sound better and work easier.
