Hey all-

I have a 20Gb 2nd Gen iPod, and the cover for the firewire port was getting torn slowly over time, well it finally bit the dust.

Is there anyone selling a replacement cap/cover? I did a search, and the closest thing I found was someone asking for the same thing 2 yrs ago - with no response.

Thanks,

Lee

Did it really come with a cover from Apple? My 5Gb never did - and it didn't do it any real harm. I wouldn't wory about it too much.

Yeah the 2nd gens had a little cover that was attached to the ipod with a little piece of rubber - that over time (and constant flexing) - broke. It was touted as one of the improvements in Gen 2. I'd like a cover, but obviously, if I can't find one, I'll need to get a new iPod Photo

I'd be real surprised if you found one. The odds of damage being caused to your iPod are greater by trying to install a cover (if you could find one) than in just leaving it as is.

OK, my bad! Anyhow, I seem to remember that before that, some people were buying similar rubber port protectors, which was a strip that went into the ports of an iBook dual USB. This is a bit pricey, as you just cut the rest off, but might be a solution. Having just upgraded though to a 60Gb iPp, I highly recommend making the jump instead!
