I just purchased a canon S410 and want badly to elimnate my old system of connecting a digital camera via wire to my mac or pc just to load pictures and having to deal with all that mess. I would like to get a card reader that can read cf - also it would be nice if it read sony media stick but not neccesary since i doubt I will be using my older sony F505 much , but If one of them was capable of reading both, that would be a plus.
Can anyone suggest any based on experience? I'm looking for high speed, ease of use... etc.
I am running 10.3.6 on a 15AL PB.
P.S
Can you use any PCMCIA card reader? Can I go by opinions of PC users over on newegg.com??? Thanks
THANKYOU!!!!

Pretty much PCMCIA cf card readers are all the same. I just went out and got the cheapest one on Nextag.com and it has lasted me through 3 computers and is still running strong. Hope this helps.

i have a USB one that reads both CF and Memory stick. the bad thing is it doesn't read SD, and it seems like many of the compact cameras are switching now.

Does Iphoto react to the CF reader like a camera? Can you just drag the pics into iphoto,
I'm not sure what I am going to use to manage my photos on my mac. But if I wanted to use iphoto am I going to do more manually?
Thanks

Check this out $5 at Amazon. I haven't tried it but I think they're all the same.

Yes, the CF card to PCMCIA card adaptors will react just like a USB Camera Connection. I use a PCMCIA. It's nice an compact, no cable to wrap up or anything.

Yes iPhoto recognizes it, at least on my 15". If not, you can drag them to the open iPhoto window or to the icon in the dock. It will probably ask you the first time you use it if you want to have iPhoto open when it is inserted. It works really well for me.
