Well last night when leaving work i went to get my iPod out of my pocket and it wasnt there, looked everywhere but didn't find. This morn my boss called and he found it. I went to pick it up but it was in bad shape. One it was way below zero here in CT last night and it had fallen face down in ice and snow. It also appears to have been crushed somehow, possibly by a car as it was in a parking lot. That is not overly noticeable but there is a black dot on the lcd and the menu button is damaged. I took it home and plugged it in but got nothing. Later i noticed that when the battery and drive were plugged into the motherboard a buzzing sound came from the board. then later i heard a click probably from the drive but thats it, none of the buttons do anything and nothing shows up on screen. I'd liek to get under the motheboard to check it out further but don't even have the tools. This sux so bad cus I've had this for 3 years and tho it was getting noticeably older it still worked great for a G1 iPod. Plus i just blew major money on a new mac so i really didnt need the expence of buyin a new ipod now. argh

that is a sad story. the only bright side is that you should be able to replace the G1 with another G1 for around 100.00. That does stink, but it is better than a new one's cost.

I'm sorry, I leave my iPod out in the cold of my car every night, and while it does reduce battery life, I think it took some physical damage(either crushing or water) to break your iPod. So it's probably not just the battery being ruined by the cold.

That's sucks. I hate to see any Apple goods turn to be a door-stop or something.

Meanwhile, I hope Steve will show us some amazing iPods at MWSF05.
