I setup synching via bluetooth and iSync between a friend's iMac G4 and Palm Tungsten T3 just before Christmas successfully. On Christmas the iMac G4 was replaced with an iMac G5. I connected the two computers with a firewire cable when setting up the new iMac to transfer settings and user files from the old computer. Now, I get an error on the palm handheld when synching with the new iMac. The error reads:
"Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application"
So far I have been unable to resolve this problem. I have tried deleting the pairing between computer and device, trashing preference files, and simply restarting both devices. I am able to send files via the Bluetooth File Exchange utility to the palm device from the iMac.
The one difference in the bluetooth setup between the new iMac and the older computer are that the newer iMac utilizes bluetooth connections with both an Apple keyboard and mouse; whereas, the older iMac used only a bluetooth mouse. One question I have regarding this setup is whether the bluetooth interface on the newer iMac is saturated with both keyboard and mouse connections. Though, I have tried disconnecting the keyboard from the computer and then synching, but the problem remains.
Any suggestions on how I might go about resolving this problem, or further steps to try, would be appreciated if anyone has experience with this.
Thanks,
