a friend just called me and he was trying to extend his sisters airport using airport express. he plugs it in, gets on the laptop and starts the setup. the airport express isn't detecting the network even though the laptop he's using right next to the express is on the internet using the wireless network. does anyone know if the airport express only extends extreme basestations. because they do have an older basestation.

Yeah, WDS only works with Extremes or other Expresses.

My cuz has the same problem and he uses an Airport Extreme with his Express and he can't get the Express to extend.
