So I just got a Apple wireless mouse to use with my 12 inch PB 1.33.
Now how should I handle the power management? meaning, do I turn it off every night? If I do, whats the eaisest way to "wake it up"? I want my wife to be able to easily get it working again. I leave BT on too.
Funny cause I waited 12 days for FedEx to finally deliver my mouse and I'm thinking the batteries are much more run down cause of sitting out in the cold for all those days (sub freezing)
thanks!
Kent

PowerBooks can wake on Bluetooth. If the PB is asleep, all you have to do is depress a key, click a button, or move your mouse and the computer will awaken.
Look in Preferences/Bluetooth/Settings and check "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer."

I just bought a Microsoft BT mouse also and am wondering if there are any drivers yet for this thing??????
I did a search here and found older posts about it but I hope there is some solution now for letting the thing do what it is supposed to do?
If I can only get it to function like a mouse with scroll wheel I will take it back.
So far that is all it will do.
No side scrolling,Button mapping or adjustments.
It will not finish"pairing" with the PB unless I am not giving it enough time.
I hope also that this thread WAS about this mouse in the first place as I realize you never did mention that it was Bluetooth or not.

yah & I figured it could wake the computer but what I guess I'm asking is, when should I SHUT OFF the mouse? (so to not drain the batteries) or will it "sleep" on its own like the PB does.
thanks

I use a PB 15" with a wireless mouse I usually leave at the office. At first, I just left it on but that seemed to run down the batteries quickly, so I now close the port and turn it off when I leave the office.
I've never been able to get it automaticly recognized; I generally have to use "Browse Device" to get the PB to pick it up again the next day.

Really? My BT500 mouse is recognized instantly by my PowerBook just a few seconds after I turn it on, even if I haven't used it in weeks or across reboots.

I never turn my Apple mouse off. The batteries last several months, and it's just ready to be used all of the time. It automatically goes to sleep to conserve power. So when you walk up to the machine you just click the mouse once and a few seconds later it's working. Don't make it harder than it should be.

I generally turn mine off at night. I have had no problems getting it recognized again in the morning. Just turn it on and it finds the computer again.

I also have experienced the problem of having to "browse device" to get my PowerBook to recognise the Apple bluetooth mouse each time i turn it on or wake the computer up.
After changing the batteries, once the mouse is recognised I can click using the mouse button, but the lazer seems to power down and will not actually move the mouse cursor.
I have tried updating the firmware and drivers and restarting the computer etc, but nothing seems ot be working.
If anyone has experienced similar problems or has any suggestions, your input would be much appreicated.
Cheers.
