Hi, folks. Just to let you know I did search, and wasn't really able to find satisfactory information.

I'm looking for a home-office quality All-In-One. Fax capability is last on the list but I want a decent quality flatbed color scan/copier/photoprinter. YES, I know it's probably not going to be quite as perfect as getting separate units. I'll live with that knowledge. I'm OK with it, really. I've been warned. Don't feel guilty about it.

All the recommendations I've read here point toward Canon as the best quality, least-expensive-ink printer units. However, I saw this on Canon's website which basically scared the pants off of me:
Canon multifunction products are not supported in Mac OS X. Please see below for the list of products compatible with Mac OS.
Canon's site lists the Pixma 750 and 780 as somewhat compatible... but not with 9.x., and they also seem to be saying that the driver on the CD is the only driver you're gonna get. Not Good.

I've owned several Epson 740s and I'm unhappy both with the software and hardware. They are always clogged and even when they're not, they spew crapola all over the prints. And that's using expensive Epson ink, not even generic stuff. Someone is going to have to convince me that Epson has truly seen the error of their ways and found religion before I'm going to consider their products.

I don't know much about Brother except that they sell them at Apple stores and they got a mediocre review at MacWorld or MacAddict.

Which leaves me with HP. Of the numerous HPs we've had at work, I love all of them with one exception, which appears to have been a bad model in general. But all the others seem to be reliable workhorses with good quality output.

HP also seems to offer the widest Mac support, but I've read some reviews here saying that their support is not very good. I'm currently using an AirPort network of several machines on10.2.4 and one on 9.2x (I really should upgrade that last machine, but it's one we depend on and I don't want to screw it up). They also seem to be continuing Mac support unlike Canon.

The one I'm most strongly considering is the HP PSC 2355, but I would consider others. This one doesn't appear to have built in networking, but I'm assuming I can use USB PrinterShare if I upgrade that last machine to X.

So, any thoughts? Anything else I should consider? Anyone care for a mint? Any and all recommendations are requested, but please nothing over about $300. Thanks!

I had a Lexmark X83, which has stopped working recently (I didn't use it much, it may not have been working since I installed 10.3, as the latest drivers for it state 10.2). Anyway, I gave up on it and just bought a HP PSC 1215 (the small one). It does the scan/print/copy but not the fax, which I'm not bothered about. It installed straight onto 10.3 with no problems, and it worked and calibrated itself straight away. The only thing that freaked me was an over eager paper feed, it likes to take in ALL THE PAPER, not just the first sheet. Maybe I put the paper stack in too far, but it scares the hell out of you to see your brand new printer suck in 30 odd sheets of paper in one go the first time you load it up. I've only had it a few days, but no complaints so far. All the software for it is accessible through a dock icon menu which is always there from startup. Loads easier than the old Lexmark system.

It cost me £45, down from £100 to £70 in the sale, and £25 off by using the points on my reward card at the store (WH Smiths). Oh and they threw in a USB cable and a pack of photo paper too.

PS. This one takes photo cartridges with pale cyan and magenta ink, as a 'cmK' cartridge instead of a standard black.

All is going well so far though.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

Seconded. This is one great AIO. Got it for Christmas and LOVE it - the built in WiFi is awesome and everything works great with OS X. I printed out two 8 x 10s so far and the quality is excellent. Took about 2 minutes per print at high quality. Scan works perfectly as well. I have received a couple of faxes and had no problems. This is all through the built in wireless connection to my home network. In addition, the built in COLOR screen is great if you want to print quickly from a camera memory card. I highly recommend this printer.

I have the HP PSC-1350. I like the compact size over then 2000-series.
It works flawlessly with MacOS X 10.3.x. However, I don't use the built-in media cards reader.
