I just picked up a Viewsonic VP171s 17" LCD monitor to use with my G4 14" iBook 1.2.
I'm using the iBook spanning hack.
I can't seem to get the same color calibration on the external LCD as on the iBooks screen, especially the greens. The greens on the Viewsonic seem too yellow/green compared to the iBook. I have the same screen shot on both screens.
Also, if I move off center just a little bit I see a yellowish/brown or a warm cast on the sides on the Viewsonic. Its like the red pixels seem to show up over the others when your look at a white background at any angle. On the iBook I don't see that, its just not as bright as I move from side to side but no apparent color shift.
I really don't like that the Viewsonic does this when I move my postion a little to the left or right.
Is this common for all LCD external monitors? This is my first LCD (other than the one on the iBook. Is this just a calibration issue?
There are several color controls on the LCD menu; 9300, 6500, 5400, 5000 and User controls. The there is brightness and contrast.
If I use the Apple Display calibration then what do I set the LCD menu color, brightness and contrast controls before I run the Apple calibration?
Thanks
