So, I just acquired an Apple Pro mouse with a blue LED. Has anyone ever seen one like this? Looks like a white Pro mouse but the the white area on both top and bottom are slightly transparent. Made in Malaysia, M5769. It is most certainly not an after purchase mod. Any info would be appreciated.

the white area is slightly transparent meaning you can see the inner workings of the mouse? that's strange. maybe since they lowered the price they also changed it slightly. I've never seen an optical mouse that didn't have a red LED, i always just assumed they worked the best. did you buy it new within the last week or so, or get it from someone else who bought it a while ago?

Yes, it's possible to see some of what's on the circut board inside the mouse through the milky internal plastic. The mouse is brand new but I didn't buy it from any store. I purchased it from a guy who once had a prototype mouse (it was totally clear and read "prototype" instead of "Pro Mouse". I didn't know it was blue until I plugged it in. It does look very cool as the blue shows through the top of the mouse.

I know someone who found a (I believe it's a Logitech) small travel mouse someone had left in a classroom, which has a blue light. It's really neat, I suppose blue works maybe just a little worse than red?
Blue LEDs seem to be gaining popularity on electronics these days.

Does the blue MS Starck mouse have a blue optic LED, the button and rib light up blue, but I can't find a pic of its bottom, so to speak .

I'm using it right now and the bottom light is red as usual.

Don't suppose you can post a picture of it? Sounds nifty.

IIRC, the color doesnt matter, just that RED led's are the cheapest. (not totally sure how reliable this is though)..

Ask and ye shall receive.
I thought I should add that the above photo was taken just after I bumped the mouse to get the LED to full intensity. In the lower photo, the mouse wasn't even plugged in. The blue shows through in a lit room even when the LED is in the dimmer mode.

Nice.
I like how you can see through the white when it's off.
