WOW....great idea, Mr. Jobs!!!!
This is priced right up my alley and is a great introductory product. Now...which one would I get? the 1gig or the 512MB? I dunno....anyone who has gotten their hands on one of these, post your first impressions here. I think it's a good idea. Now I just have to decide whether I want to be able to view the songs (go with iPod or the Mini) or not (go with the Shuffle). Anyway, good thinking Apple and man all the other stuff S.J. presented in his Keynote was neat too!

I just thought of a question to owners of any ipod product....can you fast forward through a song or can you only skip the song alltogether? I ask because at times there is one part of a song that I really like and want to hear so I fast forward to that part of the song and sometimes rewind it to hear that part again.

with the IPods with a display, you use the scroll wheel to fast forward. It drags a little dot along a line & stops you at whatever point you want in that track. This is very useful for me as I have quite a few mix mp3's - averaging 2 -5 hours with the longest being 10 hours long. Just holding down fastforward for this would be a nightmare

I'm sure the forward/back buttons function as ff/rewind when you hold them down, just like any CD or minidisc player without dedicated buttons.

That's called scrubbing I believe. But you can also fast-forward on normal iPods by holding down the forward button. I can't imagine the Shuffle will work any differently.

you can also tap the enter button on a regular Ipod, then scroll to a time in the song and hit enter again. obviously that wont work on the shuffle
