Hey everyone,
Mac n00b and potential switcher here.
Just wondering.. I've got a PC now, and I use MSN Messenger on it more than AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc.
I'm wanted to get a webcam when I get my laptop (most likely to be an iBook), and obviously, am looking at getting an iSight.
A couple of questions - will it clip onto the top of the iBook properly? I don't want to have to balance it on top of the screen only to have it fall off.
Second, is the iSight compatible with MSN Messenger on the Mac? If I plug in the iSight, will I be able to use it as a webcam in MSN, or will I only be able to use it in iSight?
Cheers everyone.

yes, the isight comes with multiple clips. one which will mount it on the top of your ibook/powerbook.

Or anyone with an AOL AIM account - Mac or PC. iSight works with the latest PC AIM too. iChat doesn't talk with MSN. You need to use the MSN Messenger Application for chatting with MSN users (Mac or PC).

I have my iSight mounted at the top of the screen of my powerbook. The mount is secure and should work just fine on your ibook.
It works well enough with aim users on a pc. They see great video, but generally they seem to have usb cams rather than firewire, so you'll see a lower quality image than they will if that's their situation.
ichat to ichat gives very good resolution, but most people are still using pc's, despite 10 years of my best efforts to convince them otherwise.
Cheers,
J.

You can use you iSight with the current version of Yahoo Messenger. You will be able to do video but not voice (you'll still have to type).
