I bought a 200 gig maxtor drive and an oxford 911 firewire enclsure. unfortunatley, although the drive showed up disk utility, it would not mount on my desktop. i was perplexed,so i though i would use the diskutility "erase" function to see if somehow it would help mount the drive. that didn't work, so i stupidly changed the jumper settings, and i think i set the jumpers to something unrecognized/unsupported, and then hit "erase" again in disk utility. the hardrive tried to erase (got progress bar) but hung. i turned off drive, set the jumper back to master, and plugged it in. now the drive just goes click-click, spin, click-click, spin, and neither system profiler nor disk utility can see it. did i breack my drive? it does this whether i have it set to master or slave.
another question: assuming i can get my drive to start behaving normally, i am assuming i would still have a probem with it not mounting on the desktop. anyone have an answer to that initial problem?
