I can't find anything about it now, but I think that Steve said something about some kind of box that'd let you have your d/k/m hooked up to a PC, and with the flip of a switch, they work for your Mac as well.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this, or was I dreaming?

It's called a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse). It lets you switch between computers. There are many different types available.

I've been using the IOGear Miniview III for a few years now and it's worked very well. I constantly switch between my Dell desktop at work and my TiBook.

My only complaint has been that it will occasionally freeze (unplugging it reboots it) and that it doesn't pass along special key (like the special launch keys I have on my logitech keyboard or the volume control keys) commands that seem to require direct hardware access for the drivers to receive them.

But if you just want to be able to use the same monitor and keyboard between two computers, this works great.

That's just what I wanted to know. It seems like someone should be making a bigger deal of the whole thing -- "Buy a Mac mini and a $50 switcher and run two entire computer systems off of your existing keyboard, monitor and mouse." Sounds like geek-heaven to me.

I'm thinking of getting a Mac mini and a KVM just to pi$$ off my IT guy at work.
