I just bough my iSIght and it worked well. I opened the ports necessary for it to work through my Zyxel router (NAT) and so we could chat the first time when she plugged a DV cam to her computer.
I reset my router because I had a problem with it the day after that. Then I tried to do a one way video (she had borrowed the cam from her sister) chat with her again and it simply didn't work. She said that she could only see a black screen plus the sound (and I knew I was sending data because my connection got all slow with the bandwith consumption). And it has stayed that way ever since (although we haven't had the chance to try it two ways again).
Now, I know I have all the necessary ports open on the NAT in my ZyXel router (ports 1024-6111 and 16384-16403 are open), so, is there anything else I or her might be doing wrong? I wish I could try it with someone else but I don't know anyone else with a camera on AIM.
By the way, she's using a PC with AIM, not iChat.
Anyone think can help me getting a solution to this? I thought that all I needed to do was opening the ports on the router. Is there anything else I should check for this kind of symptom?

I tried using it with my girlfriend again. It didn't work. So I tried video chatting with someone else. To my surprise, it seems it works with some people, yet not with others. All of them are using AIM and, as fasr as they know, none of them are behind a router or firewall.
IS THERE AN EXPLANATION FOR ME BEING ABLE TO VIDEO CHAT with some and not with others?
Hope anyone can help me on this.
Thank you very much

If it works with some and not others, it strongly suggests a firewall/NAT router conflict on their end. Just because her personal computer doesn't administrate the firewall doesn't mean there isn't one between you.

Or a software issue - certain version of AIM for Windows vs. iChatAV.
Ask over in the Applications forum...

iChat to PC AIM users is still very much hit & miss in my experience.. And usually more miss than hit.
