if you have a dv camera you could hook it up to your red yellow and white wires on your tv / cable box and connect the camera via firewire to your computer and watch through iMovie or another app.

there are many other viable ways. i think there is a tuner card but you could have found that with a simple google search or forums search.

There's an AlchemyTV PCI card by Miglia that works very well for me. I've never done a comparison with an EyeTV b/c I didn't want an external box. But the AlchemyTV works GREAT. It has DVR capabilities if you choose to pay a little extra.

I second that, if you are talking about a PCI capable Mac, that is a PowerMac, to get the Alchemy is the best solution, cheaper that external solutions and no latency on signal.

Currently there's a DVB and ATSC for Mac page, with Mac beta driver to various DVB and ATSC cards that marketed for PC. I am using it for my upgraded PowerMac G3 watching digital TV, and they can also use it for recording TV programs as well.
