Have just been informed by a member of staff at the Regent Street store, that Apple are soon to be releasing a combined Bluetooth/AirPort module for macs that can be installed by them instore (and presumably us out of the store) so that they can offer new 'out the box' macs with Bluetooth, without having to order in special models.
Details were a bit sketchy, and the guy I spoke to hadn't seen one yet, but was told it was on the way.
Could be interesting...

are you sure this was for all models and not just the mini? The mini has airport and bluetooth on one board, making it very easy to just drop both in at the same time. Do all of the desktop macs work this way?

As I said, he was a little sketch on the info, but gave the impression that it would be for all models, not just the Mini, because he mentioned being able to put bluetooth in the new iMac as well.
We'll just have to wait and see for confirmation I suppose.

I believe there is a possibility that the stores may sell a combination BT/Airport Kit for in store upgrages for the Mac Mini. This is not for the other hardware. Also, I don't believe there is any information as to it being one device. It would just be a kit with multiple components, including a standard Extreme card and some sort of BT logic board installation.

The Mac mini service manual explains it:
The APX and BT modules sit on a "mezzanine" board, and the APX card is taped on as well. Minis that ship with no wireless do not include the mezzanine board.
Apple will be selling a wireless upgrade kit for the Mac mini that includes a mezzanine board which is already populated with an APX and BT module, plus the antennas. The service manual says explicitly that the parts will not be available individually, other than the APX card, which is the same one already sold for other Macs.
It is not unreasonable to believe that Apple might use the same mezzanine board arrangement in other future Macs, but there's no evidence of that right now.
