Are there any companies out there that have announced matching peripherals for the Mac Mini? I put together this mockup of a hub. I didn't realize that there were holes in the bottom of the Mac Mini when I thought of this. I suppose you could just flip it upside down and park it on top instead.

It looks nice. All you need to do is make sure the top of the hub is flat so it won't obstruct the flow of cooling air into the mini.

Apple says that placing sizable peripherals on top of the Mac mini will obstruct the bluetooth & airport antennae. Designing a peripheral to sit underneath, however, should be OK as long as there is a bit of space in between to allow for good airflow.

I fully expect some company (or more than one) to release a FireWire HD that sits underneath the Mac mini. A big, fast, FW hard drive would really help speed up the Mac mini beyond what its 2.5" internal can handle.

Well, if the mini doesn't have FW800, how, exactly, would a 3rd party add it?

Nice mock-up.
