I have an Epson CX4600. It worked fine for a month. Then I unplugged the printer and plugged it into my airport. I tried to set it up that way, but it didnt work. So I plugged it back into the USB straight into my POwerbook G4. But then when I went to the printer list there was nothing there. So I clicked to add a printer. The CX4600 shows up on the list, and then it says "Locating new drivers" but then it stops, and then it still says "Drivers not installed" next to CX4600. I installed the software again, but still the same problem. I can still scan with the printer, and I can even go into the Epson utilities and print up test sheets. Whats the problem here!!!?

This is a weird "gotcha!" with Epson's sorry-ass drivers: in Printer Setup, you have to select "Epson USB" as the connection type -- regular "USB" results in exactly the symptoms you describe. So just delete the printer from the list, choose Add..., and select Epson USB first, then it should work.

Havent gone home to double check. But when I was trying to fix it, I would scroll down to EPSON USB and then nothing would show up. The little circle would twirle and search, but then no printers found.

Then I dunno what else to tell you. What I said above is the only fix I've ever seen.

Ahh This is so stupid! I can scan, I can do test copies with the Epson utilities. But I click on Epson USB and nothing shows up! I reinstalled all drivers.

Just an update. I sat on the phone with Mac and Epson for a good 3 hours. Both where useless and just went over everything I had tried, and I am a mac n00b big time. I ended up re-formating my HD and now all works fine. So stupid.

What a pain, you shouldn't have had to go through all that hassle. Epson needs to get better driver writers, I think!
