So I've been printerless a while, and I want to get a laser with character, which means Apple of course! From that Ebay listing, is there a problem with the printer, or is the test sheet thing just some irregularity that I can fix with a little effort?

Also, I have a 17" Rev C 1.5 gig Powerbook, so will printing off it be ok?

Much thanks in advance.

Would it be possible to even connect the printer? You'd need a converter cable of some sort. And even then, would OS X support it? (sorry I don't know the answers, but those are questions that need asking ^^ ).

Won't be a problem printing to this printer from your Powerbook over Ethernet from 9 or X

You do need to get an AAUI adapter for ethernet. The printer supports simultaneous connections from PCs printing to the parallel port and Macs printing to the serial port or ethernet.

A nice feature is that it uses the same toner cartridges as the HP 4 series so youwon;t have a problem getting replacement toner

The vertical shrinking they showed is most likely from a worn feed roller. As Kami alluded to, the print mechanism is the same as the HP LJ4, so parts are readily available.

That said, check how much similar printers, in full-working condition and with toner, are selling for. It may not be much, if at all, more.

I will give you that those printers are true workhorses.

Thanks for your advice guys. I'm going to get it, and if the shrinkage problem is only every couple of papers, I'll just reprint. If it's catastrophic, I'll try and replace the roller.
