I knew before I purchased my Nokia 6320 that it wasn't currently supported by iSync. So, I've been remaining patient with hopes that Apple will soon update the software to include this phone in the list of compatible devices.

But, that's not been the case. I've been patient for about three months now. But, I'm new to being patient for something like this. How long should I wait until I just break down and purchase the only other alternative to my needs—PhoneDirector—at a cost of $30?

Am I overlooking any other alternatives?

You mean the 6230?

I upgraded for free to this phone last month before I new it wasn't compatible with iSync - I wrongly assumed that it being SyncML was all that was needed. I now know that iSync itself isn't SyncML compatible and needs to be updated for each phone. What made me go for the phone was when the guy in the store offered to throw in a 512MB MM card for free! He made me an offer I couldn't refuse so took it right there and then.

I think it's a great phone but am also frustrated about it not syncing with my Mac. I've tried PhoneDirector but find it seriously lacking for what it costs. I should itself sync up with Address Book and iCal and if possible iPhoto and iTunes. Since it doesn't use the already entered data from AB and iCal one has to enter the data again to get it to the phone. How pointless is that. If it did this I would buy it in a heart beat. I must admit though that of out the features that do work in its unregistered state I use most often is the transferring of iTunes encoded AAC files (from CD) to my mounted MM card. As you may know iTunes encodes AAC files as .m4a while the phone can't read these and PhoneDirector strips out the iTunes added stuff to make them a pure .aac file. (I copy .mp3 audio files via the Finder to the card reader)

I installed the Nokia PC suite in VirtualPC but the apps interface looks all corrupted and messed up so haven't explored this thoroughly. I was only clatching at straws anyway an probably wouldn't work properly.

There are no alternatives that I know of. I've read rumours that iSync in Tiger will bring synchronisation but who knows. Can Apple not support such a popular phone? Salling Clicker will be supporting this phone soon - it is being beta tested as we speak.

Have you tried Nokia Collector? It works with the 6230 as well as many other of their phones. It's ok but keeps wanting to download all my music from the phone every time I connect, which is slow and pointless and something I don't want. I've unchecked off the Keep in Sync option but it still keeps doing this so I've stopped using it. I just copy small stuff to and from the phone using the Bluetooth File Exchange app.
Sizzling like an isotope.

For the interim, I've simply used the "Send this card..." menu item in the address book to individually send contact information of those I want in my phone. However, I would love to take advantage of the other features of the phone—calendar, alarms.

I'll just stay patient and hope that Tiger does remedy the situation.
