Hi all,
I'm in the market for a new monitor to use as a second display for my Lombard G3 powerbook. I want to go flat panel, as space is an issue, and can probably only go as high as $500, so that takes Apple's displays out. I've taken a gander through CompUSA and found some I like, but I wanna make sure I'm not missing some valuable factoid regarding using a third party monitor with my mac.

To follow up with more detail, do I have to find a monitor that specifically lists macintosh compatibility? Since my PB has the standard video connection, would it just plug and play even if it doesn't specifically list mac compatibility?

I just got my Princeton 19" monitor today and I love it. I had to pay $391.00 up front (from newegg.com) but it comes with a $100 mail in rebate. Model is LCD19D. It has both VGA and DVI inputs, resolution is 1280x1024.

The Dell 20" widescreen or 4:3 LCD's were $500 just the other day (reg $750). Wait for the next discount coupons, those are your best bet.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

I think the current Macworld reviews larger sized displays.

Since your Lombard only has VGA, you may be tempted to save a few bucks and go with one that is analog only. However, if you plan to use this monitor with another Mac in the future, I'd recommend getting one with DVI. See the many other discussions in this forum.

BTW, if you're on a tight budget, check into Sceptre (from Newegg). They make excellent quality displays at very good prices (I've been very happy with mine and so have a few other folks that use them).

I do not like them, Sam I am.
