I’m looking for suggestions on an accurate LCD display. I see a lot of posts on either Apple or Dell (or Apple vs Dell). I currently have a 15” ti PowerBook (DVI port) and need another display. I am looking for a 20”+ LCD under $1000. I am really impressed with the Apple displays and case design, but the design comes with a premium. I just saw that the the Dell 2005 20” (widescreen) can be bought for $507 — very cheap, but the design looks pretty clunky compared to other brands (NEC or Sony for example). What are some other accurate 20-23” LCD monitors and how do they compare to these two? Thanks for your help.

$899 20" Formac

I haven't heard any reviews of these (relatively) new models, but Formac typically gets good reviews.

The Samsung 213T is a well-regarded 21" LCD that's available for around $850-$900 from reliable resellers like Newegg.

About a year ago this was the monitor I lusted after, but settled for the Dell 2001FP because it was so much cheaper ($750 vs $1200 at the time). The price delta is a bit less now, so it's worth considering.

Also, note that the Apple 20" is $899 at the Education store.
