The iSight webcam is still the original model, with no updates except for software and different clamp designs for new macs. In these days of mac stuff getting cheaper, the iSight is stating to look very expensive, alternative webcams from Logitech etc. are half the price!

So come on Apple, pull your finger out and give us something new/better/cheaper. I'd consider getting one if it wasn't £100!

Yes, they are rather pricey, granted. But then I cant think of any other webcams offhand that have AutoFocus, which is a very nice feature to have. And I expect this largely justifies its cost. Not to mention the fact that the image quality is pretty good in comparison to most other webcams.
Having said that, Apple seems to be moving in the direction of 'Hi Def' which the iSight most certainly isnt. So an iSight HD would make sense now.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an iSight HD any time soon (or this year, for that matter). The cheapest HDV cams are still $2500+, and the current iSight is about as good quality-wise as a $300-$400 MiniDV camcorder.

True.. but still, the current rez of the iSight isn't exactly stellar. Must be possible to uprate this some by now.
