Here's my dilemna. I've got my G3 Powerbook, and my Windows 98SE PC. The Windows machine is basically only on when I absolutely need a windows machine for something. I've got the monitor hooked up to my powerbook docking station, so I have to switch it out when I need the PC. I've got two keyboards and two mice on my desk. (The powerbook's keyboard doesn't lay out on my hands as well as the standard apple keyboard.) Does anyone know of a low-cost solution that will save me the hassle of having two keyboards and mice on my desk and having to deal with the tangle of wires everytime I want to use the PC? I've checked into some KVM switches from IOGear, but they're so expensive? Is there any other solution?

I don't think RDC works with Windows 98.

Can you run games on the windows box with the remote desktop client? I'm guessing no.

If someone has a hardware switch solution they'd let us know about I'd like to hear about it.

RDC is a very nice piece of software with a few quirks. First, it won't run with win98 but only with 2000, 2003 and XP. Then, I didn't find a way to emulate the Windows key on the mac keyboard. Finally, while pretty fast with a 100 Mbps hub, games other than Solitaire would be totally unplayable : too much lag in refreshing the screen.

Maybe a Gigabit ethernet link would do it for games, I don't know... I use it to run PC only programs (no games though) and it's very handy for that. My iMac G5 screen is much, much, much better than my old PC CRT piece of crap.

Hope this help...
