There's been a lot of discussion about TV/DVR devices for the Mac. Miglia has now introduced an outboard model to compete with the EyeTV200 and the Plextor. The main difference with the Miglia appears to be that it supports DivX in addition to as MPEG4 and MPEG2. I'm not sure how big a deal DivX is, but I've seen reviews of the PC version of the Plextor that get all excited about DivX.

The main question I have is: Why doesn't the documentation say anything about time-shifting or pausing? Is this not supported? If not, I would get one of the competing products.

The new Miglia also claims that its MPEG4 recording format is directly supported by iMovie5, so you can go straight into iMovie to edit, which might be nice. I wondered elsewhere why this wouldn't be possible with the competing products.

Interestingly, while the inboard Miglia Alchemy card supports M-JPEG, the new Miglia device doesn't. Also, the new device doesn't have a remote control, although I don't really care about that. The EyeTV200 has the advantage of bus-powered Firewire, but this isn't a big deal either.

Anyone have any insights?

This device looks interesting, but I will be getting the Plextor product since it works with EyeTV. That software just works.

Timeshifting/pausing, is all in the software.

As I read the Plextor documentation, only the PC versions support DivX. Am I missing something (which is quite possible and is why I'm asking)?
