I have been using my 1.33 Ghz, 12 inch Powerbook with my new 20 inch Cinema Display for about a week now. I have noticed a significant decrease in performance. It's as if the system memory is being taxed.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this when connecting to a display? I am running the stock 256MB of built-in memory that came with the machine.

Time for a memory upgrade?

big time need for one.

unless i am mistaken each window that is open gobbles up ram. and since you have a new screen now i bet you have more windows open and that they are bigger...

no matter. you need to up the ram.. go to 1 gig if possible but at least 512.

Agreed. Your severe lack of RAM is slowing you down already, and adding more windows (as you're likely to do with dual displays) exacerbates the problem.
