There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I recently purchased a 20" ACD (the clear model) for my Quicksilver. Why? Apart from its design and seamless integration with my Mac (via ADC), I just preferred it to the others. Besides all of that, the thing just looks like a work of art (especially in the dark, while sleeping), and I do not mind paying a premium when I get that kind satisfaction from a product.
As fas as the new displays are concerned, thick isn't really the word that comes to mind. They seemed rather thin to me when I saw them at the Apple Store. I found them quite unobtrusive and minimalist in design--as opposed to the one I have which is quite the opposite.

The Apple displays have much more ... attention to detail -- the back is almost seamless it's so clean.
In comparison, the back 3/4 to actual back of the dell/HP screens are nightmares.. those things are hideous even if they have tons of inputs
