Howdy all...

Has anyone else been in the market for a Wacom Intuos3 graphics tablet lately? Has anyone else noticed that not a single online retailer has any in stock? (at least of the 4x5's)... My buddy recently got one in december without any trouble, but now finding one is like hunting unicorn: bewildering and noisy. I went ahead and ordered one on back order from academicsuperstore.com, which had the lowest price and said "shipping mid-march," which seemed reasonable. But, wanting instant gratification i have been continuing to look for another online seller with something in stock. No luck.

Any ideas on what's going on here? Have these tablets suddenlt become the next ipod, with everyone and their dog bumbrushing stores worldwide? or are the distributors clearing their inventories to make room for the "Intuos4"? I am considering canceling my order at this second prospect. The whole situation is perplexing..

anyone have any ideas/consperacy theories? I am still debating canceling my order, but i need a tablet asap... what WOULD jesus do?



(:edit:: I actualy have found a few sites with something instock, but by and large most retailers do not, including Wacom themselves...)

okay, lots of reads, no replies...

Whether you're looking for a tablet or not, what would you say about any product, lets say... a hilarious digital cowboyhat, that is suddenly not stocked anywhere on line, but seems like it should be? Im just worried they are "clearing the pipelines" in anticipation of an updated model. Thought some of you might have some insight, be it a similar past experience, or a prediction on the likelihood of an update (i think the intuos 3 came out, uh, 2003?--- i know at least of you uses a wacom something, i just want an opinion, thaanks.
