Hi guys, I got this 25 DVD+R (Single sided) disc spindle free when I bought the LG GSA-5163D Super Multi DVD Rewriter (USB2+Firewire).

Anyway, this is what's printed on the disc:
LG 1-8X DVD+R (4.7GB/120min) [RW]

QUESTIONS:

1a. I know this has been discussed to death, but what's the different between the different formats?
1b. What is the most common DVD format to get?

2a. Is my DVD media a Re-Writetable, since it's printed [RW] on the disc?
2b. If so, how come I cannot erase it? OR is it because I burnt the disc as a DVD-RAM?

3a. The thing is, my iBook's Combo drive (read DVD, burn CDs) on my iBook won't read the disc I just burnt. It will just spit it out without mounting the disc.
My Combo drive is a Sony CRX800E drive.
Is it because the drive is pretty old (2002), so it doesn't read the new DVD formats?
3b. The LG ext drive detects and mounts the disc as a DVD+R.

4. Is it possible to burn the DVD+R media as a DVD-ROM, so that older DVD drives can read them?

FYI: iBook G3 700, 40gb HD, 640mb ram, combo drive, OS 10.3.8

Thanks for any useful input...
