Did anyone else in the UK manage to catch the STUNNING deal that Dell had on there 24" display (tuesday afternoon)?
They made a mistake on the site, and instead of a buy one get a 2nd at half price, they put up buy one, get a 2nd FREE that slashed the price of the monitor from £856 to £426
My brother and his mate got one each and I know someone who got four, just to make a killing on eBay
The error only lasted about 3 hours, nobody told me at the time I would have bought a couple, sold one my new Apple 20", I didn't really like the Dells stand, but it being FREE would have definitely made up for any decor' issues I had with it.

Mistakes like that ususally do not have to be honored here in the states...

They have to, it's part of the 'distance selling rules*' we have over here. It's also because the Credit card payment is automated. So they will have accepted your payment at the advertised price (the equivalent of you walking out of the shop), before the mistake has been noticed.

* These are VERY cool and Pro-Consumer. If you buy something via Mail Order (The internet is just classed as an 'automated' catalogue), one of the rules is that you can return the item within 7 days for whatever reason (as simple as not liking the colour) and get a FULL refund, you just have to pay the shipping.
So there is nothing like this in the States?

Companies will sometimes honor mistakes for good PR. But i don't think they are obligated to as long as they were not trying to bait and switch (fool) the consumer. If apple posted $199.99 instead of $1999.99 for a g5 they would not honor it. I feel when it comes to honest mistakes it fair not to expect them to honor it.

But maybe i should move to the Uk and start a ooopsprices.com then resell stuff to americans at a profit!!
