I have a couple of questions. I just picked up a couple of Iogear PCI cards to add some ports to my computer. The USB 2.0 port card works fine in my Quicksilver 2002, but the firewire card seems to cause sleep problems.

The drives spin down, the lights pulse, and the screen goes black; but the fan stays on and the mouse stays powered. On reawakening the system freezes. Removing the firewire card solves the problem.

I didn't know about these sleep issues before. A search of Iogear's support page brought up a claim that the problem is with Apple architecture. See here. Apple's support pages claim the problem is with non compliant cards. See here. Searching the forum archives didn't give me the information I want.

So: first question is who is right?

Second question: are there any fixes?

Third question: if not, is this the kind of issue that Tiger might fix?

Ta!
