I currently have my mini hooked up to the top-rated iiyama pro vision 454 CRT. But I'm wanting to purchase a LCD for my Mac mini. I've narrowed my choices to:

LG 1720B - Read authoratative review here - http://graphics.tomshardware.com/dis...17_lcd-01.html"

and Dell 1704FPV Read Review Here - http://compreviews.about.com/gi/dyna...oundup%5F0405/"

The problem is this:

The LG looks gorgeous (and complements the mini's looks well don't you think?). BUT - it only has a VGA input - NUMEROUS REVIEWS I'VE READ FOR THIS DISPLAY SAY THIS MAKES NO DIFFERENCE AS THE DIGITAL-ANALOGUE CONVERSION IS SO GOOD.

But the mini does not have a VGA output, only DVI-I - does this mean there will be a dual conversion (digital-analogue at the mini and again at the LCD?) and resulting quality loss rendering its great reviews invalid and positioning the (uglier) Dell LCD (with its DVI input) ahead?

I don't want to waste my money!

DVI-I has an analog signal as well as digital. All that the little dongle does is rearrange some pins to present them in DB-15 (VGA) format. So no, there's no more "double conversion" than there is with any analog video card (which, obviously, translates the digital video buffer to an analog video signal).
