How would I connect optical audio to my PowerBook?
I'm mostly interested in using the PowerBook as a destination.

Somehow I can't find any peripherals anywhere that would do that? (I was thinking optical-Firewire or optical-USB or what have you ...)

There are a gazillion. A simple google search will reveal scores of models.

But companies like Edirol and M-Audio are good bets. With that, you should be able to finish your own research!
