Anyone have an oppotunity to hook their PBook up to one of the Sharp Aquos LCD/TVs? I saw a sweet 26" at Costco today for $1600. Images of the Mac immediatly came to mind. Hey why not just get one of these babies instead of a new monitor?
Just curious if this would work as a Mac screen also.

it would work, but the resolution would be much less than a normal computer lcd. ie you wouldn't get much screen real estate.

I do consulting work and one customer had that in her home office. She had me hook it up as her tv and the monitor for her PC (she has a nnew 17" powerbook too but still needs to use the PC alot). Setting it up was a bit of a pain. Basically, you had to hook a monitor up to the computer (windows doesn't auto adjust the screen settings) to go through the new user setup and then set the screen settings to 800x600. After that you could hookup the Sharp and be fine.

Now the Mac should automatically adjust the screen resolution to the tv.

Anyway, 800x600 isn't that great and a 23" or 24" LCD monitor (such as the Dell 24" LCD) with multiple inputs and eyetv or something to change channnles would be a better setup as well as cost a bit less.

I have a 32" Aquos in the bedroom, and I was seriously excited about plugging my PB into it (and giving my wireless mouse/keyboard combo a workout).

The results were, shall we say, less than spectacular.

I'm guessing I could have tweaked it some more, but my initial results were so discouraging, I just gave up. It never looked particularly good, and, at least with my eyesight, I couldn't get more than 5 or 6 feet away, which was still way to close for normal TV viewing.

About 5-6 years ago, I saw a mac hooked up to an Aquos, in a Best Buy of all places, and I certainly remember it looking as sharp as a tack, so take my above review with many grains of salt.

It's a fantabulous TV though. Deadwood in hi-def is teh r0X0r!
