Okay...I have not found any or too much info...I recieved my Tiger early (8A28) and printing is crazy!! I have a canon printer that simply won't print...Apple only has Gimp print drivers on their system...and unless someone can help me out I guess I have to wait until Canon updates..

Does anyone know anything about the new printer issues?

I had no printing problems with Panther....grrrr

What specifically is your problem, is there no print driver? or when you hit print it does nothing?

Do you have USB overdrive installed?

Try using the Drivers from the CD that came with your Printer. Sometimes that seems to fix it. I know that I was having issues installing the Epson Print Drivers so I just installed from my CD and it fixed my issue and works just fine.

no luck reinstalling....is there a place the files install to? is the driver file itself somewhere? Because I can specify a location in the print setup utility

How about downloading the latest drivers from canon and trying it again?

(I got laughed at the last time I suggested it, but it solved the problem.)

My Canon i950 divers do not show up either even when I install them but if I just choose Canon Generic it works perfectly.

Or Automatic, I forget.

I don't even have Canon Generic listed as an option for me....and yes I have restarted...

strange problems...

here's hoping Canon releases new drivers....I called Canon and they were unsure that their drivers would work...

Usually, your printer should appear in the list of printers without doing anything if you have connected it properly (and provided it's switched on!).

MY printer does indeed show up with no problem...but I have to go a step further it seems and select a model and make....obviously Tiger is not finding a driver it understands..so obviously I am going to have to wait...and unless anyone has the Canon i450 running with Tiger..then I think its a driver problem

I bet you $50 it doesn't.
HP can't even handle a small upgrade. No scratch that, the HP drivers never work right to begin with.

I have the HP psc 2175xi all-in-one and it took a bit of messing around to get to work when i upgraded to panther but it all works fine now and i havent had a problem since...although i only use the scanning feature on my desktop pc and never on my powerbook yet.
I'm sure at first the hp drivers will be screwy but messing around between the cd and the downloadable drivers will fix it.

I tried to install my HP 3030 All in one under 10.4 and guess what.?? It asked me to replace some crucial system folder which was conflicting with the install or else cancel the install. So finally it did not install. This sucks....... I made mistake after mistake of buying HP products.

Is someone interested in my HP 3030 and my HP Color Laser 4550 and my HP Photosmart 7960?

HP you are so sucky .........

mripley - a fellow on the apple.discussions list had a very similar problem, and Canon support told him to "delete the canon folder in macintosh-library-printers and reinstall the software"

Double dose of thanks to lynxalot from me. I had lost access to both my Canon i950 and S9000 printers after upgrading to Tiger from 10.3.9, with symptoms exactly as described by mripley. Both are working now!

Unfortunately Tiger breaks the HP AIO SW for me - Reinstalling can't happen as it comes up with some error regarding the old installation etc. and then just hangs. Given HP's disgracefully slow updates to their Mac drivers I don't hold out much hope. Using the preinstalled driver for the CX990 right now (same engine as the PSC950) but quality is appalling.

I hope to get a Canon but nobody can seem to give me feedback on what they are like.

Ok, I need some help. I can't print to my Canon i950 in Tiger. The printer shows up when I try to add it--connected through an Airport Extreme Base Station--so it shows up in "Bonjour." Everytime I go to add the driver and click on Canon, the only drivers that show up in the Canon list are GIMP drivers and the i950 isn't listed! I went back to my original Tiger disk and installed the Canon drivers from the disk. I downloaded the latest i950 drivers from Canon. Still the drivers don't show up in the list. So, I deleted the Canon folder in Mac, Library, Printers and also User, Library and Printers, reinstalled the driver and it still won't work. Now, what do I do?

I have NEVER had this much problem with my Mac! I am very frustrated. I NEVER had ANY trouble in Jaguar or Panther! The Add Printer Box unexpectedly quits and I have reported the problem to Apple. I also repaired permissions. Do I start over and re-install Tiger?

Yes I READ the entire thread and YES I deleted the folder from /Library/Printers and NO it did not fix my problem!

It's like the Printer Setup Utility is broken in Tiger!

Ok, I finally fixed my problem! I reinstalled Tiger as Archive and replace system files and then I could install my i950 printer driver. (Before when I reinstalled, I was choosing upgrade, but should have chosen Archive and replace system files.) The printer setup utility doesn't crash anymore!

Thank goodness I can now print!

Jim
